Latest Update
June 17, 2025:
An Update from Andrea Krout, District Director of Supervisor District 2
General Plan Outreach
We will schedule a roundtable with Penngrove stakeholders (including CARES, PSF, Merchants, etc.) once we begin Phase 2 of the General Plan Update. This will follow the outreach update (from phase 1) going to the Board of Supervisors (BOS) in August.
The General Plan Scope Report will summarize the findings from the 2020 audit and community engagement work completed during Phase 1 (Community Visioning). It will also provide recommendations for Phase 2, including strategies for continued outreach, proposed General Plan changes, and key policy issues to guide future development.
Speed Signs
The traffic calming signs are still in progress, though delayed due to significant staff turnover in Public Infrastructure. That said, contractor bids were just finalized in the last two weeks.
Supervisor Rabbitt has allocated up to $100,000 from the district-specific infrastructure improvement funds for this project in Penngrove. The installation plan was created based on input from Bill Fishman and Jim Davis last fall and will include radar feedback signs on Old Redwood Highway near the Hatchery intersection, radar feedback on Petaluma Hill before the Main Street/Adobe intersection and an upgraded crosswalk system at Penngrove School on Adobe Road. Once contracts are signed, the contractor estimates the signs can be installed and operational within 4–6 months, primarily due to the lead time required for electrical components.
Traffic Town Hall
We are currently meeting with neighbors directly affected by the planned intersection improvements at Ely and Railroad intersections along Old Redwood Highway. The design phase (now at 65%) includes utility planning, property acquisition, and drainage.
We’ll meet with the most impacted property owners. Once those conversations are complete, we’d like to host a larger traffic-focused town hall.
Paving in Penngrove
The following roads in Penngrove are scheduled for paving soon:
Cypress Avenue – Overlay
Hatchery Road – From the ORH intersection to the Goodwin intersection
Penngrove Avenue
Minnesota Avenue
Slurry Seal in Canon Manor West
Contractors will post signage and provide construction updates to neighbors throughout the work. We truly appreciate everyone’s patience and attention to construction zone safety during these improvements.
