October 7, 2025 email from Supervisor Rabbitt’s office
An Update from Andrea Krout, District Director of Supervisor District 2 (bold added by Penngrove Cares):
Our Public Infrastructure team received the electrical components for the three speed radar feedback signs and the pedestrian crossing radar feedback sign last week. The contractor is scheduled to complete the foundation installations this week. Once the concrete cures, installation of the equipment is planned for next week. Once the signs are installed, we will request CHP patrol as the community requested at the town hall.
The attached visual outlines both the existing signage in Penngrove and the new signs that will be added. As shown, speed radar signs will be installed at the entrance to town on Petaluma Hill Road. The school zone on that approach will also be adjusted to expand the 25 MPH area as drivers enter downtown. Additionally, Old Redwood Highway will receive a new radar feedback sign for northbound traffic approaching town, just before Phillips Acres and the RAFD station.
In the next week, the crosswalk on Adobe Road near Penngrove School and the railroad tracks will be upgraded with lighted pedestrian feedback signs. The upgraded crosswalk striping was recently completed.
The roundabout designs at Ely and Railroad (along Old Redwood Highway) continues to progress, with current efforts focused on right-of-way acquisition and environmental permitting and planning.
The SMART Trail from Penngrove North Station to Penngrove is officially open! We walked it this past weekend and it was lovely to approach Penngrove and hear the music playing in the park, to see folks out enjoying the beautiful weather and shopping in Penngrove.
Welcome to Penngrove banner project: Our office has been working with Kim Hanson on this project and the once banners/hardware are secured by Kim, the County will help with installation.
Lichau Creek Vegetation management work was completed by SCWA this summer. Our crews did a wonderful job and cleared brush and debris in the creek from Adobe Road, South to 101. Several of the neighboring Penngrove property owners worked with SCWA to support access to the creek.
Supervisor Rabbitt is again pleased to continue his annual support of the local parades, holiday events and community engagement events hosted by Penngrove Social Firemen and Penngrove Merchant through permit fee waivers and community investment grants.
Lastly, paving work in Penngrove has wrapped up for the season. Streets that received new pavement include Cyprus, Minnesota, Penngrove Avenue, and a portion of Hatchery Road.
Regarding the sign on Woodward and the yellow tape you mentioned: those were not installed by our sign crews.
Janice Thompson has returned in a part-time capacity to help train upcoming leadership within Public Infrastructure.
Please feel free to reach out with any additional questions or concerns.
Kind regards,
Andrea
